Well! What a
weekend it has been. I am still without power and internet, so I write
and post this blog from the comfort of my parents home (who have had power
since yesterday!). Before you feel too badly for me, I would like to
introduce you to my new best friend, who I have been calling Genie (yes- after
the famous tennis star) The Generator. She may not look like much, but we
are very lucky to have her hooked up, so we aren't really missing the comforts
of power too much. However, internet is still down... so here I sit.
I
know that Barbara had asked up to look at uploading some videos to our blog.
I took a video last night of some of the mess left over where I live and
decided to try my hand at Movie Maker. I have used it with my technology
mentor before, but never independently. So, here is what I made.
Don't mind that it probably is a little rough. I tried my best :)
You can find the link to my YouTube Video here.
Wow! What a video. I'm sorry that you guys got hit so hard. I live near the coast side near Peggy's Cove and somehow it did very little damage. I heard it went more into central Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Proof on why campus was closed today. I hope your power is restored soon and clean up isn't too difficult.
ReplyDeleteHi Meagan,
ReplyDeleteI can relate completely to the comment that you made about one of your student have an issue with "appearing different". I work with several students at the high school level (in a Resource setting) that struggle with standing out from the other students. Even in the resource room, where every student has some sort of challenge, many of these students would rather struggle to write "conventionally" than to login to one of the several computers that are at their disposal. In my experience, it seems as most students at the high school level are accepting of their peers who use AT in their daily studies, it is the students that require the use of the AT that are hesitating to use it.
P.S. I hope your power is restored soon! :)
ReplyDeleteIf we only had more devices so that all students could be using them, Darah! Then it would not seem different or make a student feel like they were different. Maybe some day! :)
